PPeyes keeps an independent watch

over

The full, real and effective involvement

of

People who use health services, including and especially mental health services

and

people who use social care services, including local authority social work and those commercial social care enterprises in which profits are made out of misfortune

in addition and appropriately

ppeyes positively supports Whistleblowing.

PPeyes champions disability rights, equality and human rights(external site) and advocacy and combats discrimination, pseudo advocacy and tokenism in all their forms

Full, real and effective involvement should be built on:

For decades, service user and carers have been searching for a concerted voice. They now have the means – permission by statute to shout and be heard!

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) are those means and service users and carers should be using them.

A concerted voice unattached to government has also evolved, out of the pan–UK disenchantment with the former government commission (see below), to shore up LINks independence. This is the National Association of LINks Members (NALM)

And a very positive development which few are making use tfo campaign for improvements in services yet is the inclusion of mental health impairments in the Disability Discrimination Act 2005. (pdf file)

PPeyes was originally set up as a watchdog for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (PPI) and especially the wayward government quango (ppeyes proved that this quango was unaccountable), the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in health (CPPIH) whose civil servants ignored service user and carer expertise and which ended up a very expensive failure. There is much of the history in the PPeyes archives, left there in the event it may be of use for academic study.

PPeyes is the creation and work of a single elderly service user, Mike Llywelyn Cox, who is wholly independent, having, as far as PPeyes is concerned, no executive connection with health, social care or private organisation. He has no alliegiance to any political party and no connection with any local or central government agency. PPeyes is entirely non-commercial and is run without reliance on funding sources.

Unless stated otherwise, anything written by Mike Llywelyn Cox on PPeyes or PPlog is his opinion alone and not representative of any other individual or organisation.
